So this is the bomber as imagined by Privateer Press, but me, I felt the need to change a few things here.
First off, for a model who's supposed to effectively throw kegs of explosive, he's really intent on looking at the ground.
Second, to keep with the theme of my Hordebloods army, he became the candidate to be an Ogre.
Getting started, I straighten up his body some.
The first step, was gluing his body in back so it'll stay in place, but that obviously wasn't going to hold.
Unfortunately, there's no real way to pin it. Instead, I just cut a bunch of pins to fit exactly to the gap in his stomach. This will at least provide support.
I haven't been enthralled with the Privateer Press grey-stuff for sculpting, but I have found it seems a little sturdier... so I start with a layer of it all around his chest cavity to add another layer of support. Think of it like an ogre girdle.
His bit fat ogre-stomach was created in 2 steps. First, just a rough layer to add some shape, and the under fat.
Second, was a top layer, smoothed out, and a belly-button.
And here's what we have! Any good ogre needs a horn sticking out of his head, some more flab in his neck, and some more green stuff to fill in the gap of his arm since I leaned it back. For the record, the little guy on his back will be an Imp shooting fire to light the barrel he's about to toss.
Take a look at my Step by Step page for the entire Hordebloods project. Here you will find each model broken down into links showing each step: Concept, Works in Progress, (for both modelling and painting) and Final Shots |
