Hordebloods WIP: Custom Heads

There's been a lack of content here lately, mostly because I've been working on the difficult task of sculpting - something I've never done before, especially when it comes to faces.. man faces are hard.

That on the left - definitely not a Tauren. Looks more like a gorilla. And the head's too big.

There's still more work to be done, but here's a small collection of some of the work I've been doing. with a description to go along.

Top to Bottom: Janessa, Runeshaper, Champion

They've all taken a bunch of work, failed heads being crushed into oblivion.. Janessa's been tricky as she's much smaller than the others.

Now, the Tauren head on the Runeshaper in the middle still needs some work, but it's roughly how I want them to look. With this in mind, I've made a cast of it with some blue stuff, and have some green stuff currently curing inside... that way I'll have a base mould, and can customize whatever heads come out of if so they still all look different. I'll have a post on the blue stuff coming up.

Still need to make the right scale of horns on all of these, and make sure they're not in the way of other things like raised arms. Their necks / humps will have to be brought backwards and into their backs... we'll see how I end up doing that later.

The champion is being turned into a Pandaren Brewmaster, and while I really liked the first head, it was too small.. the second started looking too much like a walrus, and the final I'm sliiightly worried might be a touch too big. He's still going to get the asian hat, and more of a bear belly.

All of them will still need hair covering their bodies. Any area with skin is going to get a light coat of green stuff that I can finely give fur detailing to. Other areas will get more green stuff, creating larger tufts of hair. I think if I bulk up the Panda some while doing this, everything will work out just fine.

Take a look at my Step by Step page for the entire Hordebloods project.

  1. Those are great attempts. Faces are one thing I've never attempted. I can well imagine the chore it is to get the scale right and the details. For someone who is new to sculpting you're well ahead of me.
