Click on through as I begin to bring this mighty axer into reality. This is another model where abilities line up - both have attacks that hit everyone around them.
I've been able to really let loose with this guy and I've taken a lot of step by step shots.
This is the default build for the model - looks pretty cool, but it's going to start getting a lot more awesome!
In the top photo, the Axer has a totemic mask for a knee-pad. So I made one out of green stuff. In a later post, I go into more detail on doing this sort of thing, but right now I'm still playing with what I can do with it.
Basically, I create a stencil and cover it in green stuff, cut it out and start playing. Cutting final streaks makes it appear like wood.
I had intended this to go on his right knee... but decided that because of how the axe ends up covering it up, that it'll go on his left instead.
While that was an additive, here's a mod. I cut the spikes off his left wrist pad and rolled out some green stuff. Rolling my knife handle over it flattened it. (Like using a rolling pin) Eyeballing, I used a black marker with a fine tip to draw out a symbol I know so well. Then finally, I cut the symbol out!
After a couple twisted rolls to make braided hair like on Madrak, I then layered a whole bunch of strands of the roll. By pushing one end against the top of the head and pulling the strand down, let the strands rip at different lengths for a natural look. (As natural as fake, thick model hair looks)
